FACILITATING and MEDIATING EXECUTIVE LEADERS

I design and facilitate engaging and lively retreats for executive teams - focusing on creative problem solving, team development and strategic planning. Conflicts and misunderstandings are dealt with, new levels of agreement emerge and high levels of engagement become common place. Using proven processes, adaptive meeting structures and unique ways of developing shared understandings, leadership teams become more effective and creative.


APPROACH TO MEDIATION

From 30 plus years at helping others resolve contentious issues I have found it works best if we follow these 3 key Steps, which need to be taken in order:
1. Firstly all disputing parties need to commit to trying to resolve issues through their own efforts and to put on hold all other independent actions currently in play.
2. The second Step involves agreeing on meeting arrangements that will be followed to discuss issues. This also involves establishing agreements on who participates and ground rules to insure that the discussions remain productive.
3. The 3rd Step follows the agreed arrangements made in the first two Steps and involves the parties identifying, clarifying and then discussing the substantive issues.

With adequate preparation, clear ground rules and the promise of mediation (issues resolved) the conversations begin.
